      @Jims-in
You are on ADSL2+ as DLM is running, or has run on your line. It looks like you could get a little more, but not much. Maybe 6-700kbps. If DLM is running or has run Sky will be reluctant to change it as it seems to have set you a good stable rate.

Must admit I do have a stable line, but as I’m only getting a 3rd of what MAX BB should be thought I’ll ask the experts here.

I saw a post about someone phoning up sky and making sure they are on ADSL+2 and if not they might get more speed out of it, but I think I’ll leave it at what it is.

No you are getting as much as your line can handle, 16Mb is only available to those who live fairly close to the exchange. Probably less than 10% of users can get 16Mb and a very small number will be able to get 24Mb. The speed you can get is in direct proportion to your line length. The longer the line the lower the speed.

Re: New to Sky Max - Stats

10 days after dlm started (Test socket, new filter and everything disconnected from the phoneline):

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7611 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.4 db
Noise Margin 21.0 db 15.5 db

The speed hasn't changed once in this time. Sky themselves have said I should in theory be able to get the full 16mb, so I am being capped right? Is it now worth a phone call to sky to ask them to uncap me, since it has been 10 days?

Interestingly, on the service details on the My Sky website it says this:

      Your connection details

Line connection testing completed on 03/05/2009
      Download Speed

Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to
      4.0Mb (4096Kb)
      Upload Speed

Your connection has been set to an upload speed of up to
      0.5Mb (512Kb)

My connection has never sync'ed at that speed!

I would phone sky and get through to CST and ask them to uncap your line, best time to ring after 10.30pm.

Tell them DLM has finished running on your line and has left it crippled. If you are told you are getting as much as your line can take, ask to be put through to CST as you do not believe it as you live next door to the exchange. If they refuse, say thanks, hang up and ring again in the hope you will get an agent with something between their ears. I would not be surprised if you get well over 20Mb, provided you are on one of the uncapped exchanges.
