The router is just a gateway to the internet.

When using the PS3 plug the PS3 into the router, when using the PC you can move the router next to the PC and then plug the PC into it.
Thanks so much for help. I hardly use internet on desktop so it was just bugging me that i had this router running from a comp i barely use at the same time getting such bad lag from its wireless connection. So will just plug router into ps3 then move it back again if i need to use it on comp.
      Thanks again

Why not invest in another ethernet cable? Continually plugging in and unplugging will damage the plugs and more importantly the sockets in the router. They are not expensive and can be got in lengths from 1M upwards.
