      THAT's more like it!!!

see, you've now got sync over 5Mbps...BUT the line rate will stay low until 72hrs-ish have passed as it need to see a stable connection before IP Profile increases...

looks like a wiring fault your end...

Re: 0.13Mb/s for last 3 weeks?

1st they said its my fault and not theres as my computer is full of virus that are using all my downspeed,
This is one of their favourite fob-offs at the moment. They must have had a circular saying' if you can't find anything wrong, tell the user they have viruses'. How a virus would make the router sync very low is a bit of a mystery.
The fact that you are syncing much higher means it was your fault, but I am surprised Support did not ask you to do this right at the beginning. It should always be the first trouble-shooting step. I can only assume CST thought this had been done by Tier 1.
When your line has retrained, remember you will have to keep it in the Test socket until you can make more permanent arrangements. If you put it back where it was, your speed will drop almost immediately.

Should it take the full 72 hours before I notice any speed increase or should it start happening before the time is up. router has been plugged into the test socket and untoched since thursday afternoon so the 72 hour period will be up in under 6 hours but we still have painfully slow internet with nothing going over 15Kb/s yet

can sometimes take MORE than 72hrs...depends if the sync speed drops again as this causes the 72hrs to start again...

Re: 0.13Mb/s for last 3 weeks?

When you posted yesterday at 4pm about your call with Sky, had you been moving the router around during the call?
If you had then it's likely that your 72hrs will start from then.

Sometimes it can take a bit longer, sometimes it's quicker, sometimes the IP profiles get stuck and Sky have to raise a fault with BT before it gets sorted.

Be a little patient, you've identified the fault and at least it's something not too complicated to sort out, just a question of playing the BT DLM game.

Re: 0.13Mb/s for last 3 weeks?

No nothing has been changed since the call on thursday, I plugged into the test socket then and I left it plugged in as I was expecting them to call back the same day, it wasnt untill yesterday when they called back. So sky aranged for them to call me back later this afternoon as the router has remained in the test socket untouched since then.

Really big thanks to everyone thats helped on this site, without little bits of advice I picked up from here im sure we would still be at square one with sky......

      Thanks again, Matty & Michele

Do another Performance test at BT. If the Profile has not moved it is unlikely to do so and may be 'stuck' as MrStabby suggests. The fault will then have to be passed to BT and fixing it could stretch out over several days.

Re: 0.13Mb/s for last 3 weeks?

Well 72 hours past and nothing changed, sky called and I informed them that I was still only getting 0.13Mb/s. They told me that they would call back later in the afternoon, about 10 mins after the call I noticed my speed shoot upto around 3.5-4Mb/s which by my reconing is pretty good considering I am at the farthest point possible from the telephone exchange (one drawback from living right out in the countryside).

I havnt plugged back into the master socket (still in the test socket) but I asume that the problem is the wiring in the house.

Apart from having to have the cover off is the any problem with me keeping the connection going threw the test socket untill I can sort the problem or have someone sort it out for me.

The guy @ sky told me that to have BT come out and put a new master socket in would cost me around 150 however I wanted to do it myself I could get the bits off ebay for around 5 and do it myself. I have moderate electrical & wireing skills and wouldnt be phased by the job, I recently added an extension from my partners master socket to another room with a problem.

We would like to say thanks to eveyone that has helped with our problem, without the information given in this thread and a few others im sure we would still be stuck at square 1 with sky. Big thanks again! Matty & Michele

Re: 0.13Mb/s for last 3 weeks?

Really easy to fit an NTE5 master socket, 10 mins max but what you want is a filtered faceplate which just replaces the top master socket plate and takes even less time. You can stay in the test socket without a problem, obviously any extensions won't work but whan you get a filtered faceplate that will sort them out and keep them isolated from the ADSL.
