      No, your not capped.

The Sagem router is losing connection to the exchange, it asks for the user and pass when it connects again (it's a quirk of the Sagem).

You need to post your stats from the current connection and also if you have one the test socket (see sig) that will give us an idea where the problem is.

When the connection is down, what lights are lit on the router, is the internet one steady or flashing???

The solid green interenet light goes out completely, then it flashes orange, then green again. When it goes down it tries to reconnect straight away so doesn't stay out for long as it starts flashing orange after about 10 seconds.

Last night it went down a couple of times but tonight it has gone down about 5 times just while I've been typing this.
The attachment includes my router status and also the log from the last 10 minutes

      Not sure what you mean by a test socket.{edit - just clicked the link on your signature. will run through it now}

We need to see your router stats, log in to the router click the router status button and copy and paste them.

You have a line fault, the trick is finding if it is internal or the main BT line causing the router to drop.

      Is this what you mean?
It's currently plugged into the test socket directly rather than the cover and with the adsl splitter.

Yes, if you leave it in there, do you still get disconnections?

Also, if you ise a phone and press one number and listen, do you hear any noise other than a faint hum?

Re: Serious problems, sky blocking me?

This is the stats when plugged in as normal, ie through the splitter with a cordless phone also connected:

      Router Statistics

      System Up Time: 0:02:08
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 10 11 0 0 63 0:01:09
      LAN 378 0 0 0 0 0:02:08
      WLAN 741 603 0 0 0 0:01:40
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3904 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 44.0 db 25.5 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 14.0 db

I'll leave it in the test socket and let you know about disconnects
And no real noticeable noise on the phone line, other than a faint hum

You obviously have problems with your internal wiring. The easiest way to overcome this is to fit a Filtered faceplate This will isolate the internal wiring and the problems it is causing. They are very easy to fit and probably the best investment you can make if you have extensions in your property.

Re: Serious problems, sky blocking me?

I left it plugged into the test socket overnight and when I looked in the morning the WAN connection had been up for 25 minutes. In fact as I tried typing this message it disconnected again so the issue is still present even connected to the test socket.
The difference in speeds tells me there is some issue with the socket, but as far as the disconnections are concerned it is not the cause.

Re: Serious problems, sky blocking me?

Try running Router stats-Lite for a while this will trace your noise margin and show if it is dropping to a low level. It could be your router that is faulty, bad exchange connection or a fault on the line itself.

Re: Serious problems, sky blocking me?

That program won't connect to my Sagem router.

I'll have to phone sky and try to explain the situation without them telling me to reset the router.
