      Sky Mid Broadband - Speed & Connection Problems

      Hi Guys,

      Newbie here!

      I currently have Sky Mid internet (8mb) installed at my home. I have had the service since Sky launched it back in 2006 I believe it was.

      Anyway at first no problems, then after a few months connection speeds dropped dramatically for no aparent reason from around 6mb to just over 1mb.

      I have contacted Sky about this yesterday as I have had enough of the slow internet, they did some tests yesterday and gave me a call back.

      The gentleman told me he had made some 'changes' and managed to get my speed back up to about 6.5mbs.

      Now the problems!

      1) Since he has done this everytime somebody uses the phone I get disconnected on the internet, plus the internet drops out now and then for no apparent reason which it never used too.

      2) I only get 6mb now and then, generally I am still only recieving 1-2mb ....

      Sky have told me they are sending me a new router/microfilters etc - will this do the trick?!

      Sorry for such a long post, I just want to get this sorted

      Hi if sky think that the answer to your problem is that you have a faulty router , then that will probably do the trick. It maybe that it is just the microfilters are faulty and need replacing. Have you tried a different one? Also when you phoned sky were you connected to the test socket ? Also have you tried to listen to any possible noise on your telephone line ?

      Do you have any old stats around for comparison? It looks like you have been put on ADSL2+ which is not suiting your line.

      They did all the tests and sent out a new router/microfilters and to no avail.

      I got them to send a BT Openreach engineer out which to their credit was the next day (can't fault that!) and he detected a fault with a cable outside .... fixed it .... and touchwood everything is perfect!
