      Question DNS Cache

I've got a problem thats driving me crazy...

I imported a domain from one web company to another and this meant that the DNS server addresses of the domain changed. The change request went out across the internet yesterday at 05:30 but Sky Broadband still doesnt appear to have been updated.

I've got 3 machines running on my Sky broadband box.

      a) My work laptop that connects via the broadband box but uses BT as the ISP. I can view the site fine.
      b) Laptop which connects via Sky and the domain name still points to the old site.
      c) My wife has a laptop which is on the Sky account and again points to the old site.

My Sister in law uses Tesco Broadband and she can view it fine too.

I've done all the usual at my end and cleared the cache on both machines. The hosting company say its a problem with Sky not updating their DNS info.

The website is Pro.E.V.Wrestling and it should display a black background with flash images on the homepage and instead when I access via Sky I get the old site.

Really urgent to get this sorted as we've got a publicity show tomorrow - HELP

      Re: DNS Cache

I've just heard back from my domain host who confirm that everything is ok at their end and its just down to Sky cacheing the DNS details. Some of the servers must have been updated as Kev25 can see the site ok.

Works fine for me, so everybody else can see the correct page which is good news!! - have you done work from the site from either of the 2 laptops?? I had a problem with my webpage which was searching my PC instead of online for my pages and none of the links worked.

      Re: DNS Cache

Try clearing out "Temporary Internet Files" on the offending machine!
You're probably getting old DNS info from there!

      Re: DNS Cache

Your pc has cached the IP of the domain.

      Run ipconfig /flushdns

      Re: DNS Cache

      Thanks for the replies everyone.
I've cleared all my browsing history, inc temp internet files.
      I've run ipconfig/flush DNS
Have left router turned off for an hour
      But still no luck.

I've borrowed a friends machine and put that onto my network and tried to access the site. Even his machine goes to the old site but back at his house it works fine so I'm confident its got to be something to do with the Sky servers.

I've run ping proevwrestling.com on my PC and thats giving me an IP address of 70.185.189.138. Can someone run this command from their machines for me and see what IP address is coming back.

      Stu
