Listen to what I am saying
I only Browse on this forum and update never ever played games on line and I have been throttled numerous time
you are not calling me a liar are you. If someone needs help it is a pleasure to help. The amount of connect Customers that have left because they were being throttled for no reason they were not gamers their only problem was the connect package which has been over sold
it doesn't affect everyone and if it's just browsing you'll be fine
Do you mean working for Sky
You, like myself, shouldn't really see any difference other than a slight delay on pages but it's nothing to cry about...
When are you going to listen to connect Customers who have been throttled just for browsing The thread you want closed and say it was dead and no one wants it

Steve, we all know yours will be slow later on...is there really any need to post the results?
but you post the same quotes about 4 times a day, the same link to anyone who's on Connect (regardless if they're actually bothered about the slow down) and you sound like a broken record (which i'm sure some would say the same of me!!)...
might be worth letting this thread die the death it deserves...people can use the search function if they're new and on Connect...
you keep on about the thread are you afraid it will get to big and someone will take notice because if someone does take notice then it has done its job on behalf of connect Customers Present and Past

Steve, you are dreaming if you think this thread will have any impact on Sky's policy.

The reason it needs closing is that it is now so big that people cannot find the important parts or information other than your speedtests.

It would be much better to have a sticky that nobody can reply to on the main page with all the agreed details of Connect and it's problems which there are obviously some of.

That would get more people more useful information and have more chance of turning away Sky's custoemrs that this package does not suit.

I have said it before and will say it again, the Connect package for it's price is perfectly suited to some customers, not all, but some such as my father, he can surf and read e-mail till his hearts content.

Would it suit me, not on your life, I play games and download so I would rather be hit over the head with a spade, but then again if I had too, I would pay the 35 and go with Zen as they will deliver what I need, but at a more sustainable cost.

      Hi Smithy
On the main page. Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Update - Rather than trawl all the way through this long thread, there is a new one here (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users summarising the main points and what you can do, if affected.

This thread seems to have departed from the OP's original query and has been turned into another anti-Connect thread. Isn't there enough of them already?

      cpr
Hi sorry about the deviation connect is traffic managed from 5pm till 12minight
I think i'm going to be buying a set of 3 homeplugs once they come back in stock and a filtered faceplate.
A very good idea will always come in handy
It'll be mainly for browsing, I won't be gaming or streaming very often at all. Am I likely to be throttled if I download say 3 or 4GB a week?
as you say browse you will be ok for a time but you will get throttled at sometime does not matter if you are a low user. I hope all goes well

By all means keep it to hand to refer to but the people posting on 'Steve's Blog' are extreme cases or gamers getting traffic shaped...You, like myself, shouldn't really see any difference other than a slight delay on pages but it's nothing to cry about...
Slight delay? i had faster page loading times with ISDN than i did in the peak of Skys traffic management! if i remember correctly on 1 incident i had a slower speed than if i were on ISDN!

but you're an extreme case - as are all those who've posted here...for vast majority don't experience any issues, or if they do they put it down to the traffic management...

even at 9PM, having downloaded 2GB (did a test) I was still getting pages up in about 3 seconds and streaming from YouTube without any buffering...

now, whether that's because my download was from HTTP and not torrents I don't know but it shows that not everyone (as some have said) get throttled and you only hear of the bad on here as this is a Sky bashing forum for the most part...

this is a Sky bashing forum for the most part
      ...

I would not agree with that, this thread and a few others maybe, but on the whole this forum is quite supportive of Sky and only criticise when it is due. I think you would be one of the last to say that Sky is perfect and does not deserve some criticism, as you have first hand experience of some of their shortcomings.

Am not the only one,i got the meter tool and had a download of 1gig in a month and still was rubbish for the simple tasks, that and i had a **** contact me basically telling me they can fix it in a cheeky tone, so i upped and left, there is probably reasons why u dont get capped, who knows i wont specualate! but sky LLU can be a great product, sky connect diserves a bashing cause its rubbish! you as a member of sky staff, i suppose has to defend it, but if a poll of users went up happy or bad.. i can guess it would be 90%+ bad *rant over for now*
