Messed about and cancelled when asking for a mac code!

I decided i'm moving to o2 due to the price increase and better upstream. Requested my mac code last wednesday and was told that it will show on the system in 24/48hrs.

Called on Thursday and was told it had been requested twice and rejected. They would have to do it the old way with a manual request. Try again in 24hrs.

Called on Friday and was told they can't produce a mac code as my broadband has been cancelled and will end on the 16th of May. When i explained what i was told the day before she said call back on Monday.

I called today and was told my broadband is indeed cancelled and will close on the 16th. However he managed to request a mac code successfully and this had been confirmed by the broadband team. It will show on the system in 48hrs.

So my question is this. As they have cancelled my broadband will BT give them a mac code or is they last agent i spoke to talking crap to get me off the phone? Got to say i suspect they wont.

The misinformation and lies when you speak to them is terrible. One agent even told me that they always cancel the broadband when requesting a mac. I told her the point of a mac was so i could transfer to another provider but if i didnt use it my broadband with sky should continue. She had no answer.

If Sky have cancelled your broadband when you asked for a MAC, you should report them to Ofcom. This is strictly forbidden by the Rules. It could just be incompetent staff, but that does not matter, they must abide by the rules. No one else can give you a MAC.
