      Will my sync speed increase?

      Hi,

Got my line activated yesterday and was wondering if anyone could tell me if I should expect my line to go higher?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.0 db 7.5 db
Noise Margin 13.6 db 13.0 db

Only one phone socket in the house so no extensions or anything like that.

Should I be rebooting my router every day or just leave it connected? Haven't rebooted it since activation.

      Cheers for any help.

Re: Will my sync speed increase?

you will have to wait full 10 days before line speeds stabilise , leave router on for the whole ten days only reboot router if you stop browsing (which is unlikely as line has good readings) new setup rules are now being employed on the lines from startup of dlm

call now, line is blatantly below speed...DLM might adjust it but I doubt it...

Re: Will my sync speed increase?

Many thanks for the replies. Rang Sky earlier, had to go through all the basic troubleshooting stuff which was quite frustrating. They were transferring me to customer solutions I think it was but had to hang up since I'd been on hold for so long! Will have to try again another time when hopefully it won't be so busy.

Is the normal technical support line the right one to speak to for issues like this? The person was saying my line can only go up to 8meg so that's all I'll get but didn't really seem to know what I was talking about when I said about the line stats.

      Cheers.

I would be surprised if you didn;t get the full 16mb or even 24mb if they release it.

Ring after 10:30pm as this is the best time to get through to CST, once you are there it will only take a few minutes for them to sort it out.

there have been a lot of issues with the transfers of late as well, so bare with it if you should get cut off - it's not deliberate!!

usually, 10:30pm onwards will get you where you want to go...

Re: Will my sync speed increase?

The line is configured for G.DMT and is giving the maximum that mode will support. When DLM starts it will be configured to ADSL2+ which will increase the speed, probably to maximum. I would not waste time and money and risk being frustrated by Tier 1 until DLM has had a chance to run.

Re: Will my sync speed increase?

Used the kana form hoping I might get a better response, gave them the line stats as well.

Got this reply this morning :

"Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre.

I have spoken to our customer solutions team and they have advised the best speed for your line would be 6.5MB however we are sending 8MB down your line. I apologise we can not increase your speed any further.

I hope this helps with your enquiry."

Do they actually look at the stats you send them or is this likely to just be a canned response?

      Cheers.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7968 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.0 db 7.5 db
Noise Margin 13.7 db 13.0 db

Still pretty much the same, although the sync speed is slightly lower.
