      Noise margin

      Hi,
I have been reading up on stats etc and correct me if im wrong but in order to get a good stable connection I need to have a good noise margin.

      Here are my stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16383 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 27.0 db 11.9 db
Noise Margin 6.4 db 10.5 db

im 456 metres from the exchange

My noise margin is at 6.4db now, if I want to get more than my 14mb download when this speed increase happens from sky im not going to get anything due to this low noise. again, correct me if im wrong.
My question is, how can I get this to sit higher?
would buying this help ADSL Nation LTD.

thanks for your time in reading my post

      Re: Noise margin

I think you may be topping out the line now, the only thing you can do to improve your stats is to remove any internal wiring issues if you have them.

As advised, getting the stats from the test socket (see sig) will give an indication if you are loosing any speed there, if not I think you are getting the maximum you can.

      Re: Noise margin

I live in a flat, only about 4 years old the building. It only has one phone point so I have the filter in that. Would it make a difference me putting it in the test socket to test it?

      Re: Noise margin

If you only have one socket with no extensions, unless the faceplate is faulty, the test socket will make no difference.
