Hi, Just got off the phone to SKY, fairly helpful but still not improved things. Had to move router to test socket but stats are almost exactly the same (guess that proves wiring/faceplates in house are good at least). They have tested the line and I should expect 4.5M+ but just said that the faulty router has caused the line to be capped down to find stability. I have been told not to turn the new router off for several days and speeds should recover by itself. Does this sound right? Kinda contradicts your last post Isitme.

Re: Slow speeds after router fault???

What they say applies to a Sky LLU line on DLM, but I do not think they are correct in applying this to a BT ADSLMax connection. This is one of the problems with Sky and Connect, they apply what is required with their technology to BT's and it just does not work. Sky can do nothing about your connection except pass the fault over to BT which they should have done. As IANTE raised earlier, you may even be on the wrong package, this is just one reason it should be passed to BT.

To have any bad effect on the connection the router would have to be rebooted frequently, about 10 times in an hour. It will take no notice of a single re-sync. Unlike Sky's system BT's 'knows' the difference between a bad line and a router simply re-syncing.

If you saw no difference after your last reboot, I don't think you will see any after a couple of days, unless someone makes changes at the exchange.

Lets wait a few days and see what happens

      Hi Isitme and all,

Well left it for 4 days and still no improvement, as we kinda suspected. Have resync'd router and still the same stats. Will phone SKY again later when I get home. Joy.

Anyone had any joy in a reduction on the bill after such faults? Not sure why I should pay full price this month as ive gone 11 days so far with downloads that take days instead of minutes.

Re: Slow speeds after router fault???

This is great, got a second fault reference because first was closed, so much for chasing up the customer to confirm all is well before closing. Now need to wait up to 72 hours for someone to call me!

Should have just asked for the fekin MAC code and be done with it.

I bet all BT have to do is reset my line profile.

Ho hum, over two weeks to fix what I would see as a standard problem.

So much for the working from home this week.

      Pants.

Re: Slow speeds after router fault???

If they gave you a ticket number, don't wait 3 days for someone to call. If you don't get a call in 48 hours, get back to them, tickets seem to get fed to the shredder after 3 days, whether it is fixed or not.
I hope you believe me this time instead of Sky

You could try TCP Optimiser if you are not running windows Vista.

There is also the chance that now the Connect package is letting you down.

If only you could use it at your sync speed.

Re: Slow speeds after router fault???

chances are that although the sync speed has increased, the IP profile hasn't yet adjusted...

this can take up to 72hrs once fault is resolved - so still gotta wait...
