Speed issues - any suggestions gratefully received

These are some stats I am getting with my Sagem router on Sky Max. The default setup is via an extension cable from the master socket

      (1) Original setup (after uptime of several days)

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 2912kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 7.1db 10.0db

      (2) Original setup after reboot

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 3584kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 7.3db 11.0db

      (2) Original setup after reboot

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 3584kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 7.3db 11.0db

      (3) Test Socket direct

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 4288kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 51.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 7.3db 14.0db

      (4) Master socket

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 2752kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 7.3db 13.0db

      (5) Back into test socket

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 4352kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 51.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 7.3db 14.0db

      (6) Terminal 3 wire removal and back to original location

      Adsl Link Downstream Upstream

      Connection Speed 3296kbps 768kbps
      Line Attenuation 52.0db 33.5db
      Noise Margin 7.0db 11.0db

Has anyone any ideas how I could sustain the test socket speed (or even improve on it further if possible)

As an aside to this IANTE is there any advantage in using the Pro+ RJ11 cable as well, the Attn figure is taken from the modem any problem in the RJ11 would show up on it. Since the OP has a high Attn even a drop of 1 could be a help.

so long as it's not too long - 10m max...personally, I'd have the router on about a 1 foot dsl cable and then ethernet/homeplugs from there...

Appreciate what you are saying but logistically I can't move the router to the master switch as it has an ethernet wired network printer and a PC attached to it in the spare bedroom.

Re: Speed issues - any suggestions gratefully received

Many thanks to all. I've replaced my master socket with a XTE-2005 and am now constantly getting this:-

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4608 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 51.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 9.0 db

Those results are both from master socket and wiring the adsl unfiltered extension cabling as well. Well please (well little things please little minds as they say)

XTE-2005 plate is the best ADSL product since LLU LOL!.. i brought one because im on a really unstable connection! now its constant speed i must admit was the best 12 quid i ever spent! because it also tidys my connections up at my master socket rather then using the ugly "soapbar" filters
