spot the error in these instructions, should someone follow them word for word:
They should have added ' if you get a broadband connection, phone BT as you shouldn't'.

ADSL has a top speed of 8Mb.

      ADSL2 is limited to 12Mb.

      ADSL2+ is 24Mb.

All are then reduced by the ISP's implementation of the connection and the line length & quality between you and the telephone exchange.

I think ADSL Max is BT's ADSL2 product, but I am not sure.

Your Sky e-mail is for life so you can carry on with it for as long as you want.

Come peak hours, BT introduce Sky's paid for capacity, as this is nowhere near enough to cover the amount of people that they have on the Connect package the service plummets and becomes unuseable.

Until Sky pay BT and increase this capacity, it will only get worst (if it can). The only soloution is to move to a better managed ISP such as Plusnet, Zen or a few others who also use BT's network.

Sky should be ashamed of this but for the past few years have just continued to hide their heads in the sand, even advising people to spend time checking their setup and replacing routers which in reality is just a waste of time.

I notice they haven't responded to the question I asked in an earlier post asking when they were planning to introduce extra capacity to cover all the extra people they are cramming onto the already overloaded centrals

I tell you what I have noticed with Sky Connect this last month or so and that is some kind of managed speed. I live almost on top of the exchange and regularly got 7mbps during the day but a woeful drop in speeds come the evening. I have been doing speed tests at all times of the day for the past month and I'm now getting a constant 2mbps throughout, irrespective of times.

That's funny. I'm on BT Broadband, and I too experience this. I get 3Mb of actual throughput despite an 8Mb sync rate and 22dB attenuation.... It used to be 8Mb on tap!

My dad's on Orange (rebadged BT) and he's noticed similar in recent months. Looks like something may be going on with the BT product?????

Could it be, that like Sky's LLU product, occasionally BT's line management system occasionally picks up a potential line fault and re-syncs the line at a slower speed?

If this is the case, then a friendly phone call to BT India might be required to resolve the issue and get the line connection speeds reset.

No, because SYNC rate is always 8Mb

Re: (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users

I have just completed a two month test comprising of 54 speed tests taken at all times of the day and night on every day of the week and the speeds are unbelievably consistent - almost bang on 2 mbps. This can't be just coincidence - BTW router syncing at 8025kbps.
