Re: (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users

Got this from Sky today. Basically they are letting me out of my contract early at no cost, apart from an extra 30 days notice, which I cant moan about as getting my first 3 months free with O2 lol.

      "Dear FiggyP
I am sorry to hear that you no longer want to continue with your Sky Broadband service.
I note that you have used the mac code issued to you and I have therefore cancelled the sky broadband service on your account with 30 days notice added and I am pleased to advise no early cancellation penalties have been added.
30 days have been applied for cancellation as this in line with the terms and conditions and also to give your new provider time to take over the line from Sky.
Please note that it can take up to 14 days for our service to be fully removed from your telephone line after you have submitted your cancellation request.
If at any time in the future, you would like to re-subscribe to Sky’s Broadband service, you can email me at the address provided and I would be happy to welcome you back."

Hope this helps people also wishing to leave the connect service who are experience ridiculously slow speeds due to the traffic shaping.

Re: (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users

      Hi All,

New to this forum, but have looked at it over the past few months. I too am on sky connect, and I too am having problems. When I first got it, it was better than BT, but like everyone else, I am being slowed in the evenings. On the Samknows website, it says that O2/BE is unbundled at my exchange (Portlethen), but on their own websites, still say I can only get their access package. I have just done a speed test, which I will try to attach. I dont think its too bad, especially from some of the horror stories I have read here. Cheers.http://speed.io/pics/2414/4417/speed.io.png How do you get the picture of the speedtester in here?

Try using the Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester Speedio and Speedtest.net are far too heavily used and are not consistent.

Re: (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users

Just did the BT test. Results are:

      FAQ

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

      Download Speed
      1406 Kbps

      0 Kbps 7150 Kbps
      Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1406 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
      Additional Information:
      Your DSL Connection Rate :5600 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4500 Kbps

Still think this speed is rubbish. Cant wait till exchange gets unbundled.
Samknows says it is, buy O2 says its not. Anywhere else I can check the status?
