      Just done another test on the bt site and here are the results:

      Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
      Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
      IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
      Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4835 kbps

      How many test is it best to do and how often before i ring sky up? The throughput seems a lot better today.

      You can do them until the cows come home, Sky will not do anything about it, they would have done it by now if they were going to.

      Connect is not being managed well and the system is suffering from poor capacity. The only soloution is to leave and find a better managed package.

      'm afraid that there is nothing you can do to change this fact and Sky will just keep you going around the houses until you either get fed up or leave.

      Hi Kev the reason for the tests information is when you have good results usually before 5pm and after 12midnight and low result usually 5pm till 12midnight so when you contact Sky CST with the results they have to do something usually the speeds does not drop as much for awhile. At the moment Sky are not saying anything at all about the connect issue. Also if you are still in contract Sky are not providing you with the service they promised. couple of links the first one has all the information. click on link below (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users. also the last few pages of
      The idea the more information the more they cannot deny
      I hope all goes well

      @Kev25
      It is important that you time and date the tests, this is the only way to distinguish throttling from a slow connection.

      Re: Stats on connect, any good?

      Ive read all about the throttling between 5pm and midnight but it seems to be a lot of the time during the day. I could get downloads of 700kbps in the first few months of getting connect and was happy, now its down to 150/200kbps if im lucky. I did one test at eight this morning and had two files downloading at a total of 650kbps.This speed i would be happy with if i could get it during the day. I read that to test the phone line for problems is to just dial 1 and listen, is this right? What would i hear if the line is not very good? I use a wireless connection and the router is plugged straight into the phone socket via the filter with a double socket coming out the other hole for the phone line and sky connection. Is this right as your supposed to have a filter for each connection?

      Your set up is OK, except that you will not get a consistent performance with wireless. All it needs is a couple of neighbours to switch their routers on to swamp you with interference. You are far better using ethernet, with Homeplugs if necessary.

      You can try changing the Channel on your router to one as far from your neighbours as possible, but this is likely to be only a temporary fix. Wireless routers breed like rabbits and there will probably be another interfering before long.

      Re: Stats on connect, any good?

      I can find four routers when i search and two are not even secured, shame they dont have any signal strength. How do i find what channel they are all on?My signal strength is always on very good to excellent.
