      cooling off period

Hi i'm new here so sorry if this or similar has been posted before.

Have been with Connect for a week. Usual story speeds off peak are fine but during peak it's like dial up.
Called Sky last Friday and was told that i needed to leave the router connected for 10 days and if it was no better then call back. Out of interest i asked what the cooling off period was, to be told "8 days"
"So hang on a minute" i said "If i waited the full 10 and then came back to you to cancel it'd be too late wouldn't it?"
After a slight delay she said "Yes"

      Am i missing something here?

      Re: cooling off period

When you are on connect the connection requires 10 days for the stablisation on the line and the cooling off period is 8 days. It is up to the person if you chose to stay and see what the connection is like after the 10 days or to cancel before the 8 days are up and the person is stuck with it.

You are not missing anything, that is correct. strange but true.

      See

Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

and I would jump ship now as it's not going to get any better.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Have got my MAC and i think i'll give TitanADSL a go, they seem to have quite a few glowing reports, plus it appears that they actually speak to you and answer emails.
      Now there's a novelty

      ^^^^^^^
Did you tell Sky you were cancelling. Remember getting a MAC is not giving notice.

Yeah i called last week and the women to whom i spoke said she'd put a note on my record that i had requested cancellation within the required period.
Might send an email just in case.

      You'd better.

Cooling-off period cancellations MUST be put in writing (post or email).

The agent will put a note on your account as evidence in case you send it by post and it arrives a day late but they are not doing anything regarding your cancellation.
