Re: My stats are they bad

Hi briancst1's thanks for your advise i will have to look into it

i do have an extension but its a proper one in like with a bt box and then my router plugs into that

but i do have other stuff running from the main box as well like the SKY tv box and my phone

everything does have adsl filters on them

its ok having all this stuff but you run out of sockets to plug them

i will try plugin into the main box is just a pain because my main bt box is in the hallway

TBH, with 41db attenuation, I would have said you are pretty much at the max that your line will take, it's quite a long line distance to your exchange!

Re: My stats are they bad

1 mile is a fair distance for the signal down copper wires... Also, the physical line may take a more "contorted" route....

According to the SkyUser - Potential ADSL2 Line Speed Checker & Calculator you should be getting between 8 & 9 mb, so your posted stats aren't a million miles away, esp if you are on an extension etc - Have you tried the test socket yet to see if that improves speed?

      ssd
Hi if you are looking to raise the noise margin I read somewhere if noise margin is very low reboot the router and will go back up to original setting also see if connection speed has risen. and then can work on stats.
A good idea if you are putting up the stats it is easier to copy and paste

Re: My stats are they bad

If you are less than a mile from the exchange your attenuation should be much lower, which suggests there may be a fault on your line. You can check the road distance, which will be a bit less than your line length by putting your number and post code in here -
::. Kitz - ADSL line and exchange checker .::

You are on G.DMT at the moment which is probably best for your line. A move to ADSL2+ would increase your attenuation by 3+dbs and would give you 7-8Mbs, much what you have now, but it may make your line unstable. Take your stats from the test socket and it will give an idea what you can achieve. Post them here.
