Is this slow or am I just impatient?

      Hi,

I'm on the Sky mid package, but my internet seems really slow, especially when downloading patches and the like. I just assumed it was normal, until speaking to the people at work, who have no problems downloading files a few Gb in size, in one night - I'm lucky if I can get 100Mb!

The stats from my router are as follows, and any advice would be gratefully received as I have very little clue what these numbers mean!!

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7005 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 36 db 20 db
Noise Margin 9 db 20 db

How long have you been activated? Your line will be training for about 10 days, so your speed may go up and down if you are in this period. Remember to keep your router plugged in and switched on.

You should get a sync of 8 Mb with your attenuation, but your noise margin looks a bit low to allow this. Plug into your Test socket and take the stats from there. Post them together with a speedtest from Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester

Note - When downloading always select the Custom install or you will end up with stuff you don't want.
