at a line attenuation of 36 I think you'll find that 12 meg/sec will be difficult to maintain.

Your noise margin is already a 4db and will continue to drop through out the night.

I have a line attenuation of 36 and I found that I could get 9-10 meg/sec and keep a stable line

You may want to reboot the router between 10pm and midnight to get the router to synch at a decent speed to allow a good connection all day.

      Thanks guys.

How can I tell what is what?

Like noise margin and SNR what is this and what does it stand for.

whats good and bad and how does it work?

If it messes up again, I wont worry so much as the guys at sky speak english and they know what you are talking about and I can understand them.

noise margin IS SNR...the default is 6.9db - basically, when you reboot the router it'll connect at the fastest it can with an SNR of 6.9db...

higher is better, but not when it means you're capped unnecessarily...
