      Southampton speed tests

      Good Morning

I've ordered sky and was wondering if someone could provide me with a speed test of the current speed they are receiving. I'm on the STSOTON Exchange in Southampton so would be really grateful if someone on the same exchange could test there speed and show me there results.

Currently I've had a nightmare with the last two providers I've been with. I was originally with bulldog amazing service, great speed also i'll quickly add I havenít moved or anything. But got forced over to tiscali thanks to the take over and the speeds drop rapidly. It was that bad I paid them off early to leave as I had enough of there service went to 02 and could put on there access package which was even worse. Lucky they have a month trail so I'm leaving them in the hope to just get a nice useable package.

I've signed up to the Max package and the website says I'll get between 8meg - 16meg. The lady on the phone said they estimate the speed I will be getting is 14.5 is there correct figure or will I get alot less?

Would be nice to hear some feed back if possible. Well hope to hear from you all soon.

      Cheers

what's your current attenuation? that's the limiting factor as they higher the attenuation the slower the speed...anything in the teens/early 20s should be giving speeds over 12Mbps...

Is this due to throttling? You have an excellent connection speed. Have you tried a BT performance test. Test Result You need your ADSL username and phone number.

Might be academic if you are moving to max, but worth a look.
