New User low speed with Max?

      Hi,

I recently changed over to Sky Max. and for the 1st 4 days my sync was
      764 Up
      15297 Down
and i was getting virtually the max with a solid conection, so was very happy. Then my sync dropped to..
      796 up
      7611 Down
and my throughput dropped to just over 6000 down and 500k up?

I'm a bit confused as my line stats have remained almost constant during this period? Anyway my sync remained the same for the next 5 days and then changed again to....
      796 up
8189 down (my line stats still the same though) and have remained constant ever since
It's now been 21 days since my connection to Max and the connection has been rock solid.
      Currently my stats are showing
      Sync
      796 up
      8189 down
Att (have been the same since day one)
      13 up
      25 down
Noise (down has varied by 1-2 since conection but up has been the same since day one)
      21 down
      16 up

      Current speed test results
      5232 down
      634 up

Sky estimated i would get up to 16 and i'm only 1km from the exchange, should i expect better given my stats etc?

      Many Thanks for any advice/comments

You, like quite a few others on the forum are being punished by DLM not doing it's job properly.

Please get your stats from your normal position and from the Test socket, copy and paste them to the forum. If you don't have a Test socket, use the Master with everything else unplugged from the phone line. You should be able to get 14-16 Mb quite easily, when the problem is sorted out.

I would phone sky and ask to be put through to CST and they will be able to increase the speed in seconds, from others on the forum they say to ring after 10.30pm because this is the best time to get through.

You may be lucky and get a T1 who will put you through to CST, but more likely you will be told you have to wait till DLM finishes running on your line, or that your line is getting as much as it can take. Either way you can be happy in the knowledge that you will eventually get very close to the 16 Mb maximum even if it takes a few more days.

Re: New User low speed with Max?

To be honest the process now allows for the calls to go through to CST without waiting for DLM to finish first. I put one through last week that had been crippled by DLM.

I thought the DLM process only took about 10 days, but seeing as though i've been connected for 24 days now expected to see some change.

I'll give CST a call and see what they say.
      Thanks

That's good to know Paul, as long as your compadres know about it. So when someone calls up they just have to say they think DLM has crippled their connection and they should get put through to CST? I am sure it would be helpful if you could explain what a caller should say. You probably know that some of the offshore agents will not even know what 'crippled' means, never mind DLM.

Re: New User low speed with Max?

im in the same situation as the op.

My connection on day one was solid at 12mb. then next day i came home from work and its been stuck around 7mb for the lst 6 days.

im only 1km from exchange and my the old tenant of this house had adsl2 and said he had a solid 12mb connection with another provider for over a year so definatley sky's DLM thing holding the line back.

seeing as the target SRN for adsl2 was 6db ( my understanding ) and my connection which is stuck at 7mb with a DB level of 14 it has plenty of room for imporvement.

Re: New User low speed with Max?

Your attenuation should support 14-15 Mbs, so you have noise problems. Plug into your Test socket, if the noise margin rises appreciably your internal wiring requires attention. If you are over the 10 days training, you will have to phone Sky for a manual configuration.
