Slow Speeds - Any input appreciated.

      I'm on Max.

      Connected through the test socket.

Tried several microfilters, all have the same outcome.

On wireless but wired is the same.

Dialled the number to hear the line noise thing and that's all clear.

Ran the TCP Optimizer or something like that.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2042 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 52 db 30 db
Noise Margin 18 db 2147483647 db

Pretty poor seems as it is16 Mb advertised.

      Any ideas?

Noise margin is very high. How long have you been connected? Can you post a second set of stats but take them from how the router is normally connected (not from test socket)? It may be that you need to sort something out and call Sky BB tech to get through to CST for cap lifting.

You are not running at anything like full speed. Your line is not configured correctly. Phone Sky and ask them to trouble-shoot you for a slow connection. If they say you are getting as much as the line can take, disagree politely and ask to be put through to CST, who will fix it in minutes.

There is a lot of noise on your upstream, which may be a line fault or faulty filters, try different filters.

Re: Slow Speeds - Any input appreciated.

I phoned up and after arguing for a while got through to CST and they altered some things and upped my cap.

Now I find out that you can't have 16mb, only 3.5mb. Yeah ****ing great, back to cable I think.

Anyway, in the mean time the speed is better, but a lot of the time pages don't load properly, it says they are unavailable. Then I refresh and they appear. Also, a lot of the images don't appear. Any thoughts?

With your attenuation you will not get much more

Try using OpenDNS servers in your PC. Instructions here - https://www.opendns.com/start/computer/

Re: Slow Speeds - Any input appreciated.

OpenDNS didn't seem to do much.

Extremely annoying, most pages require me to refresh 3-4 times because they don't load.

Anyone else got any more ideas?

It is more likely to be something wrong with your PC settings rather than your Sky connection. If you are not running Vista, try downloading and running DrTCP, link below. When you go to the site, do the Tweak test first, this will give you an idea what changes you have to make.
