      Broadband Availability Check

I was thinking of moving from Virgin to Sky Max but according to the checker on the Sky website I can only expect to get 4.5Mb maximum, although other sites such as 02 quote 7Mb. Why so low, I was under the impression that being LLU I could expect to get better speeds than this, this is no better than ADSL Max. My exchange is Sherwood in Notts and I'm roughly 1 mile away.

Mine said 6mb on BT and I can get up to 12mb and I am 2.3km from exchange.

Go to asksam and judge the distance from mine to your, so if it says your is 3.5 miles then you might get something like 6-8mb ect..

Last night I downloaded a TV show in 6 min.

If you get your attenuation and noise margin stats from you router we should be able to give you a good idea on the speeds you will get.

Sky seem to be using an outdated BT data to calculate speeds, not sure why they don't update it though

I'm 1.8 miles (1.3 direct) from the exchange. One thing to note is that the exchange doesn't have 21CN yet, does this make a difference.

Unfortunately I'm on cable at the moment so there's no way to get the stats from my BT line.
