My internet still keeps shutting down?

I have posted this before, but I am getting really pi££ed off now.

I have changed the channels 3 times now from 1 to 13 to 6 ect..

On the network screen it shows like 5 users using mainly sky and BT.

What can I do, anyone know of a solution ?

      Thanks

Its like my signal just drops for no reason.

Oh forgot to mention, ran down stairs to throw router through the wall, but the lights were still on.

I cant understand it? Is it were the router is, maybe loosing connection around the sky box and tv and telephone, its not a dect.

Maybe I should take it out of the cupboard and put it on floor, just worries about the little ones playing with it.

Re: My internet still keeps shutting down?

Sounds like too many wireless networks close together, this is why I do not rely on wireless for my main connection. Have you tried each channel in turn? You have tried the 3 main channels but one in between may give results.
One thing to check is when your "connection drops" can you still access 192.168.0.1? If so it's not wireless, if you cannot access it then it's the likely culprit.

Re: My internet still keeps shutting down?

So let me get this straight:

I can still access the router 192.168.0.1 even though there is no internet connection? So if I can still access this, then what does that mean?

Sorry to be thick, just not used to wireless, and I need it due to home set-up.

The item beside my router is a PS3

Then on top of a tv stand is a cordless phone, not dect
      beside that hd box
      then on wall hd tv

Forgot to say is that I have a usb belkin wirless pen on my PC, But never had this problem with virgin

you can still access the router as that's just the link between the router and your PC...

easiest option, ditch wireless and buy some homeplugs - will be infinitely better in the long run...

Could it be the firmware is out of date? or does sky do this auto for you.

      What are homeplugs?

I have no phone line upstairs.

      And cant afford hundreds

Re: My internet still keeps shutting down?

home plugs utilise your internal mains wiring as networking cable...you buy 2 adapters - 1 goes by the router into the mains connected by ethernet and the other goes next to the PC and connects via ethernet - does away with wireless altogether and is almost as fast as a direct connection to the router (85Mbps in most case)...

Solwise are highly rated, but there are some new Belkin ones I've heard good things about...

      Solwise
      Belkin

the Belkin ones use a modular plug system for if the plug socket is in an awkward place...

the Solwise are about £55 for 2 adapters, don't know on the Belkin pricing...

      Humm.

So just need a socket you say?

Might look into that on fleabay or something, looks like a winner.

My PC is upstairs between metal beams and my router accross the other side downstairs, will try once more tonight trying all the channels if nothing, then might have to do the plug thing

      Thanks mate.

Get the Solwise 85Mb Turbo off e-bay around £45 for a pair, superb compared to wireless and no more drop outs.

Better security, no wireless interference, better speeds, better range.
