      Speed Drop

      Hi
i have been with sky over a year now never a problem until now
my speed has dropped from 5120kbps to 4224kbps overnight with nothing changing inside the house or to the pole(20ft away)
      router stats were ADSL LinkDownstreamUpstream
      Connection Speed5120 kbps768 kbps
      Line Attenuation52.0 db30.5 db
      Noise Margin7.2 db14.0 db

this had ran for over 400hrs at this level

now today they are ADSL LinkDownstreamUpstream
      Connection Speed4224 kbps768 kbps
      Line Attenuation52.0 db31.5 db
      Noise Margin6.9 db13.0 db
is it worth ringing sky or will they just say its what the line can cope with??
or is there anything i can do myself?
      thanks for any help

      Re: Speed Drop

Post your line stats from the test socket behind the master socket faceplate, to get an idea of what the problem could be.

      Re: Speed Drop

has the router reconnected at a noiser time of day to get a slower connection speed.
Try re-syncing the router tomorrow morning and see if anything changes, regarding the connection speed

      Re: Speed Drop

I think Sky must be having a problem. My connection has been capped at 4608 since September 08. My connection dropped at 6.58pm and went to 4168, it disconnected again at 7.09pm and went to 3584. Heaven knows where it will end.

more like the line having noise issues...try rebooting it in the morning and see what happens...

if it's still slow then it might be worth calling Sky...

Is this in response to me because as I stated I have been capped since Sept 08. It did not matter if I turned off my router, it always came back to the same speed 4608.

      Re: Speed Drop

it was to both...if you're line is now syncing up lower it's down to a line issue of some description...reboot it in the morning and if it goes back to 4608 then you know it's something with the line...
