      Regular Ping Spikes

      Broadband Max.
Connection Speed 15326 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 32 db 16 db
Noise Margin 5 db 18 db

Pinging reputable sites gives 57/58 expected results, then 3 or 4 high pings in a row, then back to the 57/58 stable. It's a constant cycle.

Tried thinkbroadband.com bbc.co.uk and jolt.co.uk all sites give the same result, suggesting it's a Sky problem.

      Any thoughts?

PS still getting poor speeds at times Ged

Vista yes. Happens with wireless on my lappy and ethernet on my desktop.

Also happens when I plug the lappy into the router

      Re: Regular Ping Spikes

I am too having ping spike problems with my pc game. I am running windows vista and use a wireless connection. I have tried everything to sort it out, even getting max delays set to 8 by sky hasn't helped. Is it a sky problem or could it be router/windows vista problem?

      Re: Regular Ping Spikes

There is a know bug in Vista wireless which searches for new networks every 60 seconds, this stalls your connection whislt it looks.

There is no way in Windows to turn it off but the programme above may sort it.

The only other option is not to use wireless.
