      Phone issue?

      Hi all.
When my phone is in use my noise margin drops down to 0 and negative values, and gradually rises back up to 9 while the phone is still in use.
Strangely, the router doesnt lose sync.
I have an ADSL face plate fitted and the line is quiet.
Its really puzzling me, any ideas?

      From the test socket.

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 296 249 0 770 1980 00:00:41
      LAN 100M/Full 319 0 0 915 0 00:01:02

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2624 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 55 db 31 db
Noise Margin 9 db 19 db

      Noticed the sync drops considerably.
Also, I noticed the @ light on the router stayed lit green even when I disconnected the cable.
      Very strange

      Re: Phone issue?

It is not a good thing to keep unplugging and plugging in your router with Connect. The line management it uses is very sensitive and can interpret it as a line fault. I think this may be why your sync has dropped. If you have reasonably new filtered faceplate, don't waste your time plugging into the Test socket, it will prove little.

Back into the faceplate and the sync has gone back up to 3264

      Re: Phone issue?

This is really driving me crazy!!
Plugged into the test socket and the stats were fine, then all of a sudden the noise margin crept down to zero and stayed there. Didnt lose sync though.
Rebooted the router and the sync was around 800 and the attenuation went up to 63db!! so rebooted and stats went back to normal.
It's crazy, sometimes when the phone is on the NM drops, and sometimes it has no effect.
At the moment, the faceplate is back on and the phone has no effect on the NM, so just going to leave it as it is for now and see how it goes.
If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.

      Re: Phone issue?

Well it appears it may have been a router problem.
The problem re-occured this morning when I tried the phone, so I switched over to a Sagem router I just happened to have lying around, so far so good.
      Thanks for your help

      Re: Phone issue?

Does anybody know if RouterStats Lite works on the Sagem, and if so how do I get it to work?
      Thanks
