      Day 10 of DLM

      Hi,

I have an old type master socket with no test socket, no extensions fitted with just the sky filter fitted to connect my Sagem modem and corded phone.

Today is day 10 since my Sky BB Max service was activated.

      WAN PPPoA 2731450 4022916 0 0 0 69:57:40
      LAN 4073711 2757637 0 0 0 69:58:48
      WLAN 57329 24456 0 0 0 69:58:20
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9213 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.5 db 11.3 db
Noise Margin 13.1 db 14.0 db

the connection speed has not changed since last Thursday night, I have left the modem on apart from having to reboot it once when my connection failed to re-connect for 90 minutes or so.

When I run the speed test to see what speed I should get, it says I should get 16 -24 with my line Attenuation

could anyone offer any help regarding what I can do or try to improve the speed I am getting, and what the results shown mean

I have tried phoning BT to ask why a new master socket with test socket was not fitted when my line was reconnected 2 weeks ago, (I was charged for a reconnection), only to be told I would have to pay another 130 for someone to come out and replace my master socket with the new type.

within a couple of weeks being back with BT, it reminds me why I left many years ago, their customer support seems very poor

DLM may still be running, it can take longer than the 10 days. The good news it that you still have a high noise margin so your line is capable of faster than you have currently got.

If you have no extensions then you do not really need a test socket, although it may be worth removing the faceplate just te be sure nothing is connected.

You could ring Sky after 10:30pm and see if you get through to CST, they should be able to alter your line to give you your best speeds.

      Re: Day 10 of DLM

removed faceplate and no other extensions have also removed all wires apart from 2 and 5

my statistics have hardly changed for what seems like ages,

does it mean I am capped?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9213 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.5 db 11.3 db
Noise Margin 13.4 db 13.5 db

      what should I do?

Yes, looks like you are now capped, give them a ring, you should get 16mb with those stats.

Calling after 10:30pm seems to save time hanging on the phone for CST. You will know when you line is at its peak as your noise margin will be nearer 6.9bd.

      Thanks for the help smithy,

I tried phoning last night but around midnight , got message saying call back as there was no-one there after 11pm,

not sure if I phoned the right number for CST?

would that be customer support tech?
