      Would resetting my modem help?

Hi, sorry if this has already been asked but I have migrated from Virgin to Sky Max

I had to have an old phone line reactivated last week, I do not have the latest master socket but one of the old types

I am not sure what to make of the router statistics,

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 502896 778471 0 12324 73258 5:47:59
      LAN 996453 643319 0 76742 13610 7:13:46
      WLAN 0 0 0 0 0 7:13:18
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 20.0 db 12.0 db
Noise Margin 13.4 db 14.0 db

I have tried checking the attenuation at
SkyUser - Potential ADSL2 Line Speed Checker & Calculator

      and get the following

      ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 16mb to 24mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.

I do not have any other extensions in my home other than the main socket

I am not sure if I am capped or not but maybe someone with more knowledge can offer some help

would resetting the Sagem router make any difference regarding the connection speed

Cna you explain your physical setup on the line, how many sockets on your telephone line, how many in use, what filters are fitted where etc?

      Hi Paul,

there is only one socket coming into the building and I assume it is the master but it is the very old BT socket.

the microfilter is the one supplied by sky and the code is m-adsl-filter-y

      there are no other extensions.

Dynamic Line Management will be running on your line for a couple of weeks, although it does not seem to have started yet. You are on G.DMT which effectively caps your line to 8Mbs, DLM will change this to ADSL2+. After this period you should get the maximum speed. You could try phoning Sky now, but I think you will just be told to wait till DLM has run its course.

In addition to this if your phone line has just been re-activated it could take a few days to 'settle'.

In the mean time, to ensure you get the best results possible, take the face of your Master socket and remove the wire from terminal 3. This wire is not required and can interfere with the ADSL signal. Also make sure that everything you have plugged into the phone line is running through a filter. If you are using any plug-in extensions, plug in the filter first, then plug the extension into it.

Edit - If you have no extensions you may not have a wire on Terminal 3.
