Surely these speeds are too slow??

      Hello all,

I'm new to the forum. I'm posting on behalf of my girlfriend's parents.
I'm fairly confident that they are subscribed to the mid package sky broadband (Adsl) however their internet is pretty slow by some standards.

It's like the internet download speed is capped at 80kbp/s. I've tried downloading files from various websites on various comoputers throughout the house and everyone downloads at roughly 80kbp/s give or take 5 kbp/s

I have attached a copy of the router stats - I dont know if that will mean much?

If anyone could shed some light on the situation that would be great. What download speeds should be expected for the various sky broadband packages?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

      Thanks

      Ed

The connection is quite heavily capped, looks like DLM gone wrong. You need to ring Sky and go through slow speed troubleshooting with them, you should get 8-9mb with a good line.

The line is quite heavily capped. You will have to phone Sky support and ask them to remove the cap.
Before you do so, caps are not usually put on for no reason so there is probably noise somewhere on the line. Plug into the Test socket and take the stats from there. This will show whether the fault is internal or external. Follow instructions in the Test Socket link below and post the stats from there.

Note - When downloading always select the Custom install or you will end up with stuff you don't want.
