If you are paying 25p a minute for Sky support calls you are with the wrong telephone provider. With Sky Talk it is free and I think with BT it is 4 or 5p a minute.

while on hold was told it was 25p from bt line. also sky used be 0845 number since that number has to be free sky changed to 08442 standard charge rate. they must make loads of money of support calls alone *tut tut as i said support number should be free for non skytalk customers too.

i will see how connections goes now anyway.

      thanks for the info everyone.

It's not 25p per min on the 08442 number so I don't know why you were led to believe this

What are your stats like? I bet you have either a line issue or your internal wiring is screwed.

Also are you using wireless? this can cripple your speeds if there is any interference, if you are, try a wired connection to compare.

Sky Max works very well, I can max my connection out at 16mb whenever I want so it is not the network.

      Sky: Problem with BT Line
      BT: BT Line is fine
Sky: Problem with filter or BT Telephone socket
BT: You need to get Sky to send an enginner out

I did this about 5 - 7 weeks ago. BT enginner said it wasn't a problem with internal wiring or Sky Broadband Router/Filter/Cable/BT socket and that it was a problem at the local exchange. He said he replaced equipment and/or did something and that I now have 5.2mb download speed. I could use BT phone without it making the broadband line drop out. 4 Weeks later the problem comes back again.

Maybe this is a case of you get what you pay for. Maybe if i pay the extra 7.50 and go with Be Unlimited they will actually give me a proper broadband service :/

      Re: crap sky broadband service

You appear to have a problem with your line or at the exchange, if it is the former it will persist with another ISP. However they may be able to get BTO to fix it, Sky do not appear to have very good relations with BTO. If it is an exchange problem moving would fix it immediately.

All you can do is keep phoning them or bombard them with KANA Forms which are free
