      Exclamation Sky Charging me extra for going over bandwith limit!!

      Hi,

      I decided to look at my bill for the BB last night only to find i was being charged 2 extra. I followed it up only to be told I had gone over the 40GB limit!!

      Are sky now cutting down on people who go over the bandwidth limit?

      BT used to do this with me, my limit was only 5gb which is one of the reasons I switched. Have you downloaded the bandwidth meter?

      No warning letters? No emails? No phone calls? If so Sky are breaking their own conditions. Phone Customer Relations and make your feelings known.

      First check that Sky have not changed your billing date.

      Re: Sky Charging me extra for going over bandwith limit!!

      I would contact them and quote this from their T & Cs-
      Broadband
      If you subscribe to a Product that has a cap on the amount of data that you download or upload via your Sky Broadband internet access each month ('Usage Cap'), your usage must not exceed that Usage Cap each month. For the current Usage Caps on each Product, please go to www.sky.com/broadband
      If you exceed your Usage Cap, we will contact you to let you know that you have done so.
      If, in subsequent months, your usage continues to exceed your Usage Cap, we will continue to contact you to ask you to reduce your usage immediately. If after a reasonable period of time your usage still exceeds your Usage Cap, then we may do one or more of the following things by notice in writing (including by email):
      (a) charge you fair and reasonable costs for your usage (and any reasonable administration costs) in excess of your Usage Cap;
      (b) change your subscription to a Product with a higher Usage Cap, in which case we would also notify you of the new price you will be charged;
      (c) suspend your use of Sky Broadband for the relevant month; or
      (d) end your Contract in accordance with Condition 11 of your Contract;
      It seems you have had no warning!

      Without knowing your full account billing details it's hard to say.

      Could this have something to do with the new T&C's regarding having SkyTalk to keep it at 5 a month. If your billing date is somewhere around the 10th of the month the extra 2 could be something to do with that.

      It is possible Bob, as Sky does not let the right hand know what the left hand is doing. Someone could have made a pure guess and got it wrong.

      Re: Sky Charging me extra for going over bandwith limit!!

      I find the whole BB charging regime ludicrous!!

      I pay the full wack for "up to 8Mbs" and only get 3Mbs - (yet if I go over my download limit I get charged? - How does that work?!)

      Why don't we pay for what we get?

      I'm on Sky BB Connect and pay 17 per month for "up to 8Mbs" - by my reckoning that's 2.13 a Mbs. So, shouldn't I have to pay just 6.39 a month for my 3Mbs?

      At the moment it's in the ISPs' interest to cram as many people as possible onto the same piece of copper - by keeping their speed as low as possible - and charging the whole 17 per person per month!

      By us paying per Mbs then it would be in their interest to do the opposite. In other words bring the UK up to where it should be in terms of internet speed.

      Re: Sky Charging me extra for going over bandwith limit!!

      My bill for broadband mid showed up like this :-

      09/02/2009 - 01/03/2009 Broadband Mid 3.57
      01/03/2009 - 09/03/2009 Broadband Mid 2.86
      Subtotal 6.43

      I don't have Sky Talk so will be paying 10/month from the 1st March, check your billing dates to see if that explains it.
