      Greetings,

      Then how does he connect the Sky+ box in his bedroom to the telephone line?

      So how ever it's done there needs to be an extension going to his bedroom.

      I've yet to do the quiet line test but son will still have to contact Sky to get the cap removed.

      Extension lead is fine for the sky tv box but not the router. You can use the telephone port on the adsl filter to plug the extension into for the sky tv box.

      There is always Homeplugs, which would do away with the long cable.

      using a 50ft long cable the slow ur speed down a fair bit, i put my router upstairs with a 20meter cable and lost around 3meg! just thought this might help you
