      Hi,

I see that you are using a built in type filter.

I would recommend trying a a different one as that may also improve your stats slightly

With your attenuation, you should be seeing 11000kbps sync speeds.

All he's done is fitted the newer type NTE5 faceplate, which I believe filter out the ring wire...
      Regards

The OP has an ADSL filtered faceplate fitted, he has tried 2 in fact with no luck.

      Hmm

The 7.9dB SNR Margin is an odd one.

      Either a 9dB target or a 6dB.

If it were a 6db target then there is a bit spare there, meaning something is limiting the speed, DLM perhaps?

If it were a 9dB target, then there is possibly a problem with electrical noise on the line or aluminum in the cable.

Psu300, could you possibly log in to My Sky, and in the "Broadband Service Details" section it should tell you your broadband speed that has been set for your line?

Could you post the speeds there?
      Regards

      Jamie

      Either a 9dB target or a 6dB.

I think what's thrown you is that Sky uses 6.9db as the default noise margin not 6db or 9db like some other ISPs.

If the noise margin isn't 6.9db immediately following a reboot (e.g. 7.9db) then the connection has been capped, either at the maximum speed for the package or manually or by DLM to try and compensate for a line issue.

If the higher noise margin isn't due to the above then it's just drifted up due to line noise changing over time (normal daily cycle).

Re: BT engineer coming to look at my line problem

If you read through the thread you will see that Sky has moved the line to G.DMT from ADSL2+ to try to stabilise it. As G.DMT is capped at 8Mb this is why the noise margin is a bit high. It should help the stability, but due to the nature of the fault it is not doing so.

Re: BT engineer coming to look at my line problem

I phoned Sky on the 24th May about my disconnections, after the hum-drum of doing all the normal checks,it was passed on to CST ( i was given a Ref Number ),who was supposed to ring me within 24 Hours.
I phoned them again on the 25th with another Non Sky router at hand.
He checked the logs and found that i was losing connections every minute or so, then being connected up to a couple of hours.
We then proceeded to check the Router, i connected the Non Sky Router when asked, and he checked it,the tests came back exactly the same as the Sky Router, which ruled out a faulty Sky Router.
The Problems that i am experiencing with disconnections, is down to a problem with my phone line, or at the Exchange.
He has now passed it on on to the escalations department, with all the information, and are going to get BT to run diagnostics on the line to try to get the Problem resolved.
I was asked to Phone them back to see how they are progressing with getting the problem resolved every day.But he expects it to be resolved by Friday,at the latest.
When i was speaking to the Man at Sky he said that my line was only capable of 4 - 5 Mg download , i explained that my Attenuation was 32.0 db, should get Between 10- 14 Mpbs
I have checked with Sam Knows, and i live (1605m away) from the exchange.

Will Keep you updated connection allowing.
