      Router Problem??

      Hi all
I am on Max & usually get good speeds (see sig) over the last week my router has had the orange light on at times & also slow speeds.
I am on the Alsager exchange which had problems the other week but as far as i know all sorted now.
I use a MacBook & use wireless with it,along with the Wii.

      Any ideas?

      Cheers

      Ian

      Which router do you have?

      How are you connected?

Could you please post some router stats using this link?

Your stats could not be much better! Although they have only been up for about half an hour. Did your connection drop or did you reboot intentionally? Try a speedtest at Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester

      Re: Router Problem??

As you had the 'old' model you can make use of Mosseywell's tool. Download it and install it. Its main purpose was to reboot the router when the noise margin fell using the old firmware. It is not needed for that so much now, but it is very handy having it sitting in your tray, just waiting to be asked to give you the full stats including errors etc.

You can keep checking it at intervals to see if your noise margin is dropping, which could indicate a faulty line.

You might also like to have a look at the router log, see what is reported there.

You haven't actually told us where the router is plugged in, is it on the main socket? Do you have a test socket you can try? Any other sockets on the line? Have you checked/ replaced the filter in use?

I'd have thought gill07 would be back on if it was the same exchange issue again...

Yeah sorry,i live in an old terrace house,i have a little white box above the front door(inside).A friend who works fitting phone systems put me a cable in from there to a socket box.The only other goes to the kitchen on a very old wire.I have not yet checked/swopped the filter, will do tonight.I dont think i have a test socket.
