      Sadly I came home tonight to find my router synced at 160k and my profile dropped again to 135k. I am not quite sure where to go from here.

      To honest, I think I would go to Newnet or Plusnet. Sky's treatment of Connect customers is diabolical.

      this is a completely different issue to the normal one and this is a line issue...all Sky can do is log it to BT...

      Yeah I can see it looks like my line has an issue, it's most likely kept re-syncing and eventually be put down to 160. I'll speak to sky tonight.

      I removed the ring wire on the socket and the stats went up:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 1856 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 62.0 db 31.5 db
      Noise Margin 15.1 db 18.0 db

      Sky say they are doing tests blah blah. I'll see how stable my line is now. IP profile is still 135.

      Sky themselves can do nothing about a Connect line, they have to request BT to look into it. Your line needs re-profiled as it must be stuck, nothing Sky does can alter that. There are ways to 'unstick' it, one of these being to boot your router 10 times in an hour, which is supposed to force the line to re-profile itself. This is not usually recommended as it can make the connection worse for a few days, but yours could not be much worse anyway. If you don't get anywhere in the next few days you might want to try that. At worst it will knock your connection out completely in which case they would be forced to do something about it. At best it may raise the Profile and give you the speed you should be getting.

      Some bits are out-dated but this PDF makes interesting reading. Remember the Max being referred to is Bt's ADSLMax, which is completely different from Sky's Max.

      Aye they say they will test the line blahblah then if they need to they will contact BT to check my line. I am seeing that after removing the ring wire from the master socket it has improved the line stats so hopefully I will see an improvement and it won't drop again.

      I just finished reading the PDF, interesting, it does say however if I do try rebooting 10 times with in an hour it will cause a decrease and not an increase, even though I can't go lower. If it's possible for it to do a higher sync I may try but I may be on the 3rd day now so my profile may update itself, I am hoping but I believe It may be longer than 3days since I had the lower profile again.
