Broadband connections or lack of it!!

      hello

I keep losing my broadband connection. The amber light keeps appearing on my router (black one) and i get kicked out.
This is happening more and more and i am tempted to leave sky as when i am working from home it is really slowing me down.
At first i thought the line keeps going down but it happening too often.

      Anyone any ideas?
      thanks

      Ali

working from home counts as 'business use' and is prohibited by Sky BB in it's T&C's so that won't be a valid reason to break contract if you're still in term...

having said that, post some stats about your connection and how you're setup and we'll comment further...

if you log in to the router by going to http://192.168.0.1 and enter admin as the username and sky as the password it'll take you into the router software...

at the bottom of the home page is a link saying 'Show Statistics' - click on this and post the results - mainly the attenuation, noise margins and sync speeds...

Re: Broadband connections or lack of it!!

I am getting the exact same problem. 3 disconnects (amber light) in the space of 4 hours the other night. Hugely annoying whilst gaming.

When I get home I will post my stats too (in and not in the test socket).

PS Hi everyone, my first post and what a useful forum to find!

You should be syncing ar a much better speed than that 10-12Mb, I suspect you have issues with noise on your line, chances are it is your internal wiring or setup.

      Dannyb,

Your stats from everything except the original show a good improvement and once the cap is removed you should see 12-14Mb.

Ring Sky after 10:30pm and advise them you have repaired a fault with your line and can you have the cap removed.
