      Lets stop slow speeds

im definitly leaving sky over the crap speeds but looking around it seems all isps , even O2 & BE have issues .
looking at contracts and legal mumbo jumbo its easy to see why.
these isps all use shady tactics to cofuse anyone reading the t&cs. always an ' up to' speed . hidden fair usage policies . full of technical jargon pros would struggle with. and all because the the government and ofcom are prepared to point and laugh while we all get ass raped.... ofcoms rules are voluntary .
there needs to be serious legislation on this ASAP.
if you agree post your comments here . when theres enough i will print them out and staple them to gordon browns stupid ugly face

      Re: Lets stop slow speeds

Every ISP will have some customers with issues, even the best, because ADSL speeds and connections are subject to "YOUR" setup and everyone is a bit different.

No ISP can give you a definate speed at the time of signup and they cannot be sure that once you receive your potential speed that it will stay like that as again, things happen and old age gets everything.

That's not so say that some ISP's don't have their problems and Sky Connect capacity seems to be Sky's.

As for your argument and petition, I think it's a good idea, many have done this before including the Gadget Show. In this case I will wait until someone with a better use of the English Language and the ability of voicing an opinion without the need for childish insults starts one

Don't see where it would be hidden.. It's in your contract when you signed up..
It's on the tele adverts, states quite clearly...
So, You did read the T&C right? It's all in there, in english... Important bits I think are highlighted too...

What is going to happen when Gordon Brown makes sure every household has BB. In news reports today it is said every household in Britain will have 3.5Mbs.Who is going to get throttled then.

      Strange that since it says
The report called for everyone in the UK to have access to a broadband speed of up to two megabits per second (Mbps).
So that would be UP TO 2Mb and not the 3.5 you are quoting and since it's an up to speed throttling would still be possible.
With every post you make on here you become less and less credible as someone to take seriously in my opinion. Until a massive amount of money is invested in a pure fibre backbone that all ISPs have full and equal access to there will be no highspeed BB for all in this country.

when reading t&cs the FUP is always on a seperate link
all im saying is there needs to be some regulations for isp s to stop them overselling , throttling etc
cant understand why anyone would have a prob with that unless they were a currupt peer.
as for my grammar and punctuation ........ u try typing with a playstation controller.

      Re: Lets stop slow speeds

I can't speak for any BT Wholesale customers (e.g. Sky Connect), but I think this perception of 'slow speeds' (other than the obvious cases of throttling, and being miles from the exchange) is caused by highly inaccurate speed tests.

I'm currently with Virgin 20Mb. If I run a Speedtest on Speedtest.net, I get around 8Mb, yet I can finish the test, and start downloading at 2.4-2.5MB/Sec!
