From a steady 4.5Mb to 2.3Mb im confused..

Had a really good connection with Sky for at least a year average of 4.3Mb ..this i keep a check on as i do a lot of online gaming etc..upload has always been decent as well average of 650kb.
Only this week i have monitored it steady at 2.3Mb for a 5day period..
Numerous resets of modem etc no change still 2.3 Mb..
Rang Sky today and followed all the usual swop mfilters connect to master socket etc..still same 2.3Mb.
They tested the line and said i should be getting 4Mb and i am now waiting for a call back some time in the next 24Hrs they said..not sure what tier i was on think it may of been tier 2..they did say it may be a modem fault (or is that just lip service..
      Here are my stats..

      System Up Time 00:25:32
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time

At the moment, that is the best speed you will get with those stats, do you have a test socket, if so plug in to it and get the stats from there.

the SNR is near it's default suggesting the line isn't capped so something else has changed...you're not using an extended cables, just the ones Sky supplied?...

Cannot say where the problem lies, but you are syncing low, so try the following.
      (1) do you have any extension sockets? if you do check that there is no dial tone at the extensions when the test socket is exposed.
      (2) is there any noise on the phone line? Use a normal wired phone at the test socket and dial a digit to kill the dial tone. You should now hear only a low hiss, no pops or crackle.
      (3) When the router is connected, is there any noise on the line?

No dial tone on other sockets with test socket exposed.
slight low hiss on phone line no crackle or pop..
No noise on line when router is connected..

As i have said whats weird is i have had a really steady stable connection for a year plus...now this...which makes me think it must be either a router failure or something SKY/BT are doing at the exchange...
Had no reply from them today and its been 24hrs ..
      Will ring again tonight ....
      Still 2.3Mb

Could be the cable from the filter to the router or even the router itself. Try unplugging the ADSL cable and switching it around the other way, also push it in and out a few times to get a clean connection.
