      Connection/Phone problem.

      Over the past 4weeks my adsl connection has been dropping on a regular basis, the only way I can get the connection to reestablish is to use the phone, i.e. lift the receiver on the phone until a dial tone can be heard. After doing so I can then hang up and the ADSL connection will be fine for a short period.
      Any ideas?

      Looks like a high opens issue.
      Whats your setup like?

      "Mastersocket or TestSocket> Microfilter > Router & Phone?"
      Or
      Is it completely different?

      If its as mentioned above, call sky about it, looks like an engineer May need to be sent out.

      First thing to do is change the ADSL filter on the router line, this can be the cause of this problem, failing that then chances are you have a poor connection somewhere in the external line, I had the same issue a while back and it turned out to be a connection that was only just connected, when the extra voltage of the voice call came in the connection would clean up and then slowly break down again.

      Mine was in one of the green cabinets and was problably due to a BT engineer working on something else disturbing it but it has been known to be at the pole or exchange end also.
