      Sky vs 02?

      well im starting this thread

because i wanna know a few things about ex sky customers that have moved to 02

has anyone got any faster speeds by moving to o2?

example only achieveing 2mb and then getting 3mb on o2?

whats your experiences of o2 CST?

Whats the router like that they provide is it better than the current sky routers?

what made you move to o2?

      would you leave o2?

surely going to O2User would be your best bet...

can't see you getting more speed but depending on the router in use it might go up...when i moved from BT with an old router to Sky with my V2 Netgear i went from 2.5 to 5.5Mbps...

i do think you're pushing for something you're not gonna get...you'd be doing yourself a favour moving closer to your exchange!!! lol!!!

plus uploads are higher on all packages but whether that reduces downstream i don't know...

well i cant move nearer to the exchange.... so it looks like im gonna have to spend a heck of alot over at virgin just to get a connection that will meet my needs

tbh i wish i never let my mum sign up to sky bb... had problem after problem

i'd rather be throttled to death than stay on sky tbh...

takes ages to download small 20mb files... on virgin atleast you get what you pay for none of this UP TO nonsense

Also, you must compare like with like.
I am close to my exchange and my router
is in a master socket and I'm not a gamer or big
      at downloading.

Never had a major problem with Broadband Max
      in nearly 3 years.
Your needs and location might be very different.

I like the Compare Broadband tool at the
      thinkbroadband site.
See what consumers think there, although that
      only gives a national picture.

Don't forget we have O2User for those of you who do go to O2 or are already on there. There are a few people who have left Sky already, and reading the posts over there, there are very few instances of issues etc. Most people have actually seen an increase in speeds, bot up and down.

      Re: Sky vs 02?

I've just compared O2, Virgin and Sky at thinkbroadband.

O2 beats them both in all categories* over every month.

      Re: Sky vs 02?

A lot of the increased line speed reported is most likely coming from o2 default noise ratio of 6 rather than Sky's 7 which would yeild a better synch speed.

This can be achieved by o2's use of DLM as soon as you go onto their package and they make sure that your line is stable.

Customer service is a freephone number and the one time I had to call the chap was very knowalgeable and advised me correctly about having to change ports on my external email account.

I moved from Sky over connection stability, and under O2 the line up stable 100% and also my wife may have to work from home and at the time they offered a business option, if it became a reality that she'd need to work from home a lot.

But as said beofre come over to o2User and we can help with any more q's
