      Update from Alsager:

Internet is that slow this morning I could not even access this website from home, neither could I even access the BBC.

Tried a download after waiting forever to Microsoft page to load, which was downloading max out at a mighty 1kbps.

Am at work now, so this is how I have posted this message.

Just spoke to the wife at home, she says the intermet is twice as slow as yesterday. If thats the case, Dial up now IS quicker than my "broadband". Please sky peops, give us an update, whatever's happening at the moment seems to be making matters worse.

      Re: Sky speed problems

The Chuckle bro... I mean Sky engineers must have been very busy last night. They've managed to totally destory any usability that was left. My Sky connection is now totally useless, every webpage times out due to the fact that throughput is now 0.1KB/s.

Kudos where it's due, at first they didn't even realise or admit the fault for well over a month, then the first wave of "repairs" brought the connection down to 60KB/s. This was followed by the second wave of fault finding magic which brought us 5KB/s and finally they saved the best to last with a mindblowing 0.1KB/s. Pretty impressive.

Somebody suggested yesterday that we might be on the IT equivalent of a heart and lung machine, whilst the fault is being repaired. Suppose this may have a limited capacity, but we need to know what Sky engineers have tried so far. I'm feeling sad :-(

Yeah I read that also but that doesn't explain the drop in performance after every bit of downtime for repairs. Last night, the recent performance drop came after more downtime around 1am. This has happened every time they were due at the exchange to "repair" the fault. Also during off-peak times (like now), any limited connection should be peforming better than during the peak hours.

Re: Sky speed problems [Part 2]

      I agree Noikz.

Internet was pre-dial up speeds this morning it was that slow, I really do hope we're close to the problem, because have only seen negative results from the downtime so far.

Noikz you still with your Sky BB line?

+ Tim, even if we are on the 'IT equivalent of a heart and lung machine', these speeds are ridiculous.

Quite agree, the patient has gone into cardiac arrest and the doctors are doing nothing about it.

Nah, the Sky line is unusable, I've left a download running via FTP just to keep an eye on it, its averaging around 0.1KB/s and peaked at 2KB/s. Stunning!
