      Hilarious.

I'd say I was most cranky and I still have my 2nd line. But then my Sky connection hasn't been right for 2-3 months now due to this issue so I guess I'm entitled to.

Had an unofficial PM saying that work is currently taking place this evening and there may be some outages. Hopefully, Sky know what's wrong and are actually fixing it.

Re: Sky speed problems [Part 2]

Well, I've had to wait to get to work to see the forum, my sky connection was down last night from when I got home at 6pm to this morning. I think they must of turned off services all together.

I spoke to an operator at sky last night and he informed me that the last update they had was at 3pm, they'd installed some new cabling but they were still seeing errors. I'm seeing errors too "Page not found" seems to be the most common.

I'm not understanding why with no connectivity the light on my router isn't flashing orange.

Very perculiar, anyway will keep my eyes on the forum today but can't add anything further once i'm home

Re: Sky speed problems [Part 2]

I walked down to the exchange about 7PM last night and collared a couple of engineers who were just going into the building. They were contractors sent in to "fix a fibre optiic fault" - but they had no idea whether this was at the behest of Sky or not (thye just get sent to "jobs"). I explained that there were hundreds of Sky users in the area without BB and could they escalate this in any way - probably not, although they said they would ask around.

Whatever they did, it has made no difference and the service remains completely down...

Maybe a burning-brazier vigil outside the exchange, a few placards and a call to the BBC is now in order..!!!! ;-)))

a call to the BBC would do sweet FA...you obviously have no idea as to the extent of the issue...

surely the fact they're replacing fibre should make you think this isn't your run of the mill fault...splicing cables can't be easy - try and have some patience, find something else to do...do you really have to use the net every second of the day??

surely you have telephone banking? a car to go to the shops? other hobbies other than gaming?

      just a thought...

Re: Sky speed problems [Part 2]

Had to wait to get into work to post as have had NO internet connection at all since about 11pm on the 18th January.

Previous to that as the original posters will recognise we were experiencing pre-dial up speeds, with the throughput issue dating back to the beginning of November.

I hope with this cut off of service it actually means they're doing some serious work, and NR (I appreciate you say that surely you have something else to do rather than use the internet), but 3 months without a decent service is understandably hugely frustrating.

With having the problem for ~3 months or so now, being passed from pillar to post through the phone teams, being told to reformat PC's, being hung up on, and once told 'you know what, I have no clue what is up with your connection, there's nothing else I can do', by CST. I am going to file a complaint obviously in regard to the service, would it be worth e-mailing Mr Murdock or is his e-mail not public anymore?

You work for Sky and have no extent of the issue either. I think people find it hard to have patience when they have no real updates from Sky and every time an "engineer" is due on site, the problem worsens. Couple that with the fact the problem has existed since December and when it was originally reported most people faced the usual script from the call centre staff.

It took a long time for the inept staff to realise there was a problem, now it's taking even longer for anything to be done about it.

I love the attitude that people take about "you can manage without the internet". That's not the point. Most people could "manage" without a car or shoes, why don't you walk barefoot to work for a few weeks? I know for a fact I'd never discourage people from using something that funded my salary.
