      Re: Mcafee

When this site was first launched one of the
      hot topics was McAfee.
      It became known as McCrappy.

It actually caused big problems for some
      when used with Sky Broadband.
At that time someone recommended Avast.
It's free and has served me well ever since.

Try Avira for anti virus, its free very good and does not use much juice. Another free AV is clamwin but I have never used it

Commodo is a decent firewall there also is zonealarm and outpost all are free

      Is it time
to update or resurrect the threads below.
Or perhaps a new poll on which free AV program you recommend?

Funny that MacAfee gets lots of knocks here yet it came out top in a recent road test ran by Computer Shopper!

Stand by for the 'knockers' of road tests next!

Not really but considering that McAfee doesn't even work on 64 bit OS's and now more and more people are moving over to them so they can get over the 4 gig cap, McAfee, Norton etc had better get a move on and get updated otherwise they'll find out that their whole customer base has moved on.

The only thing I didn't like with McAfee was that they used automatic "rolling" payments on your account, it took an age to get that off before they tried to bill me for another year.

Funny that, because the MacAfee site says otherwise!

Virus, Spam, Identity Theft Protection | Internet Security | McAfee

Windows Vista (32- or 64-bit) and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) or higher
