I hope then they haven't decided that thats the best speed for my line then! My netgear did start playing up recently and I had to keep rebooting it. do you think that would have slowed it down if the DLM saw that as a fault?

Re: Sky Broadband Max getting slower and slower

we were already signed up but just waiting on a mac code. so its been running 3 months now.
Sky would not be activated on your line until they either received the MAC or your previous ISP ceased and removed the tag from your line, so DLM will have been running on your line since Nov '08.

      Looking at this -
      main socket
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 380 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 25.1 db
Noise Margin 28.7 db 11.5 db

edit: and it just updated its self and now i am getting this on the main socket:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 378 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 25.1 db
Noise Margin 8.9 db 11.5 db
I would say there is a good chance your router(s) are faulty. Is there any chance of borrowing another router to test. The bold entry in your stats above is what you want to see. In theory this would give you something like 6 Mbs with the cap (DLM) removed.

Re: Sky Broadband Max getting slower and slower

Well I checked the router this afternoon and this is what I am now getting

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 384 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 25.1 db
Noise Margin 22.4 db 11.5 db

There maybe could be something up with my netgear so i am going to leave it on the sky router for a while and see what happens as the connection speed is still very slow

Your connection speed wont change until you ring up Sky and get the cap lifted. It's not worth doing this until your line is stable.

I spoke to sky yesterday and they just said that the DLM was running and when its finished I should see a speed improvement. they didn't mention having any caps on the line

Re: Sky Broadband Max getting slower and slower

DLM has capped the line due to DLM thinking there is an issue - which there was as the SNR was low at the time...

call again and if you can get to CST they'll sort you out - assuming the SNR stays high as it is at present...

As IANTE says, DLM has capped your line, as it was seeing faults. Call Sky late this evening, after 10.30, you stand a good chance of getting through to CST then, who should be able to fix you up very quickly. Your other router may be faulty and have caused your whole problem.

Re: Sky Broadband Max getting slower and slower

Well all it took was 7 phone calls to sky to aventually get it sorted. I am now getting about 5mb. The noise margin has gone down though, But the guy at sky said it seems stable so.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5119 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 25.1 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 11.0 db

How can I improve the noise margin?

the noise margin WILL go down as you increase speed...it's fine...
