      Re: Penalty Charges

Sky Connect is BT Connect so in reality you will be changing nothing. The fee would be the number of months left on your contract if you are still within the first 12 months multiplied by your monthly BB charge.

      Re: Penalty Charges

I assume that they would make you pay the rest of your minimum contract and your on connect so your moving from a BT rebadged product to the identical product with a BT Sticker on it.

Any reason why you would want to move to the same package effectively?

Theoretically yes, if you have 6 months left. You could try speaking to Sky's Customer Service and explain your case, and that you wish to leave because of the restrictions. They may release you from your contract, possibly if you are really that unhappy. (but no guarantee of it)

      Sky replied me:

      Dear Mrs Olmos,

Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre regarding your broadband service.
I have looked at your account. And at the present time I am sorry to inform you that you are unable to cancel this service because you must keep this service for 12 months. Please check your terms and conditions for further information.

      Re: Penalty Charges

The contract will say that you have to pay x amount per month for 12 months (or similar) Therefore if you have paid x amount per month for x months, your only commitment is to pay the remaining balance. Whether you do that over 12 months or 6 months, shouldn't make any difference to them, as they will still get the same amount of income.

I would try again stating you have had enough of the issues, you wish to cancel your contract and pay any monies outstanding to cover the contract. If you ask for a MAC Sky have to give it you whether they want to or not. They have to do so within 5 working days as per Ofcom.

Any money or breach of contract is separate to that process, and Sky would have to chase up if you actually migrated. When they chase it up you could just pay them the x amount of months left. If they refuse to take it or even compromise, then it won't look good or them, should they choose to chase up with legal avenues, as you have done everything by the book.

The above is an opinion and not legal advice.
