Someone has suggested Be Broadband , Is it any good?
As others have suggested, don't tell Sky this. They may terminate your account as it is against the T and C's

As for Be - I have them at work - The 21.50 account and never had any issues with them. (apart from setup)

You would need to get the 21.50 package or its against their T and C's as well.

I didnt word it right sorry, its not a Business as such more like a Hobby and its not my main Income by a long shot I actually dont generate much money from it I wont go into details but at the moment im just a bit annoyed I know its not sky its to do with BT/Easynet but for this to be going on for 3 days and not be called a serious problem is a little worrying, Ive just called BT about it and they knew nothing about anything going wrong at the exchange so I do know whats going on but I dont think I can take much more of it and will be looking in to Be, I will give Sky til monday because their service up until now has been spot on but I really would like the speed which I pay for

      Re: Sky speed problems

This gets better after speaking to someone for some reason its ireland now ???, it took 55 mins to get through to them, they tell me that the engineer is having problems getting site access to the exchange and they are going to try again tonight, ill give it tonight and if nothing is done then , going to get my mac code and move to be. As this is never ending now and no nearer to getting resolved, but to say now they cant get onto the site then have to find the problem and then find a fix report back , get site access again repair the problem is just to long winded for me now been going on well over 2 months , upto an hour to get through to sky, being asked if they can call me by my first name, it just gets to much, and then saying you will get a call back and you never do is just bad. And now its in Ireland instead if Scotland ?????

      Re: Sky speed problems

Still the same, no change, great service. ZZZzzzz....

I'm trying to hold off switching this line to BE as my main connection is with them and I want to keep both lines with seperate providers (in case of issues like this). But, it's getting very tempting.

      Re: Sky speed problems

At last!! Some soul mates. I have been noticing significant slow down since late November, i'm now concluding that I too must be on the Kidsgrove exchange (though I wasnt sure before).

I posted this thread ages ago thinking it might of been a technical issue at my end:
      A Netgear Knightmare

I had a suspision I was being fobbed off, however this now proves it. I don't know for sure but i'm fairly confident that if you ask for your money back, you should get it for these couple of months if your in an affected area. Apart from anything else, anything running below 512kbps would be considered to be Midband not broadband, which is not what is being advertised (as well as the fact that the speed its-self is well below whats being advertised.

I've just rang up to complain and get my own ticket number for resolution but Sky are having technical issues with their customer support system (nice to know your not on your own).

Anyway, thanks to all who are involved for the information given in this thread - has been really helpful. I'll put the straight jacket away as i'm not going mad after all!!

      Re: Sky speed problems

I have just rang sky and their customer solutions team are having problems with their phones, after a 40 min wait to get through , Ive had enough and got my mac code and I have gone with 02 , first 3 months free, and 14 meg speed. Just had enough of being fobbed off and no date of a solution.

Got to wait 5 days for a mac code and that took 25 mins to get as well, shame I had to do this but my download speed today is 456kbs 96 percent drop in speed so bye bye sky broadband and fast speeds again soon.

      Re: Sky speed problems

if there is no date for the solution how can you shout at Sky - its to do with BT as well!!!

personally i think people rely FAR too much on their internet connection - like it's a right...

      it's a luxury good...surely you'd survive without it?

end of the day, things go wrong...some are quick fixes, some aren't - you get on with it...who's to say this isn't affecting ALL ISPs...

Yes i'm on the Alsager exchange and have had this problem for near on a month...sky give me the usual b******t etc. They told me that there is a problem at exchange and were supposed to be starting to fix yesterday...still no change this end!!

      Re: Sky speed problems

I must learn to check these forums frequently! I've been pulling my hair out for a few weeks as I've had the same problems (Alsager exchange). Good to see that you've all been talking this through with Sky to get a resolution.
