      really low SNR...

      hey ppl...

this is not a problem as such...but its really strange...and does effect download files sometimes because the NM gets too low!..

      stats from 7/1/09 13:22pm

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2560 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db 13.0 db

      stats from 7/1/09 21:32pm

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2560 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 1.9 db 13.0 db

my NM plummets in the night and then goes back up to 4-5db... its really strange and ive been keeping a eye on it... my connection for browsing seems to be normal... and downloading a big file downloads at 260kb/s - 272kb/s?

it has got as low as 0.8db...

whats causing my NM to plummet so low?

Induced noise from environmental factors e.g. cross-talk from other connections, am radio interference etc.

Everyone sees their noise margin drop in the evening. The worse the line the bigger the drop.

A quick read of the first sticky in my signature may help.

LOL - a few days probably but 3 months I doubt. I think Sky will want you to pay out the contract if you want to leave early.

Don't jump to O2 in the hope your line issues will disappear - they won't. But that said, there are other good reasons (IMHO) to go.

umm well as ive said before the best i ever got out of my line was 2752kbps which i was chuffed to bit about until my line was hit my thunder and that where it went wrong..
i would love to know what the guy did to my line to achieve this sync because it was perfect sync it looked like this

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2752 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 14.0 db

i was even happy when it reached 2688kbps... i mean yeah its only 128kbps but a 128kbps is alot to me when you have a long line! ...
but ive heard nothing but good about o2 and even some people getting more out of their lines... even people like me with terrible lines...

i also found out im in a VM enabled area...but i dunno because they traffic shape and throttle like hell...

      Re: really low SNR...

      Reasons to join O2?

      Well, compared to Sky,
      • free 0800 number for CS, 24/7, UK based, award winning and answered in a few rings
      • 30 day money back guarantee if you're not happy after connection
      • typical MAC to connection of 4-5 days
      • fantastic communication by text and email
      • higher upload speed on all LLU packages
      • higher (potential) download speed on the medium and top LLU packages
      • no usage allowances on any packages
      • fixed IP if you want on all LLU packages
      • free web texts
      • use your own router if you want
      • guaranteed next day problem fix (with engineer visit if needed) on the top LLU package
      • cheaper on most like for like with Sky

      Will that do?

Yes, a bit better but I don't think you should assume yours would too.
