Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

Too right I'm being slowed down!

      Broadband package: Sky Connect
      Normal Speed: 3.3Mbs
      Current throttled speed: 1Mbs
Average usage per day: Varies....about 13Gb a month
What does this throttling affect? Everything!

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

Has got to the point now where I just unplug my internet at 6pm.

Sent 2 letters so far. I've had sky ignore 1 and reply with another saying they had tried to contact me which was aload of rubbish as I'm in all day. So I now have to send yet another letter to another address and hope the person I spoke to hasnt given me yet another wrong address.

Hi I used to ring Customer Relations the call is monitored and they will get someone to ring you back where you can explain everything I found them very helpful. When you call you get through to reception ask for Customer Relations The number is 02077053000 hope it works out for you.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      I've already posted my stats.

I thought I'd phone Sky and challenge them on this policy as it's getting a right pain to be throttled back to a little over 1Mbps.

They flatly denied it was anything to do with them.........it was everyone else jumping on the internet at the same time - and it was BT cutting back the speed!!

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      look, i'll explain it again...

no one in Sky bar CST have ANY idea as to who is doing the throttling...

it IS Sky, don't challenge Sky on it as you'll get nowhere other than frustrated...

there is also NOTHING that can be done about it at the moment, so don't bother calling Sky...

if it bother's you THAT much, leave...

i've said it a million times - there is no fix time as it's not a fault...

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

Lots of truth there. I've already requested my MAC code and will be leaving as soon as it gets here. I had a long in depth conversation with BT and found out quite a lot of information. The main aim with sky is to get as much users as they can on one line and the best way of doing that is throttling you. They seem to tell everyone that it's BT doing the throttling, but they also dont tell you that BT will only throttle when they are told to do so by the ISP.....and that ISP is of course SKY. Too easy to pass the blame to BT and sky support will NOT help for the simple reason that they can't. It is a deliberate throttling and you're being told they are doing all they can to assist you. In fact all they are doing is taking your money month after month for a sub standard service and you can only help yourself by leaving. There is no way round it and if you're daft enough to stay and pay them for nothing then fair play. I sure won't
