DO NOT use the word cancel when you speak to Sky, you require a MAC cose to transfere to another supplier. A cancel will mean upto 4 weeks downtime.

I have joined BT option 3 and I now get constant speeds of 2.8 mg since the 6th February. Price is approx 25 a month but it works.

Don't worry, I will be asking for the MAC code

I know how it works and how BT works. I have done this type of support and still deal with BT at work. I know the infrastructure of DSL in the UK, so I'm more than confident in knowing when to jump ship and when to fiight. Unfortunately, because of the backwards technology of DSL in the UK (especially IPstream and still using copper lines), combined with the BS that most ISPs tell you (and also not telling you), I do not trust a word that the ISP says (first hand experience ).

Well, when i requested my MAC i made a point of making sure i wanted that and not a cancellation, but low and behold a few days late i got a letter informing me of my service being canceled!

Straight on the phone and 20 mins later i had my MAC anyway and now i`m on Plusnet.

Oh,to have a useable connection of a evening again .

We have all valued your contributions and advice but posting your good speeds (with glee) does not help the majority of posters who are experiencing diabolical speeds after 5pm via the Connect package.

There is something radically wrong somewhere which you readily admit. By all means post your speeds but not with the glee element, it is not helpful to others who are trying to sort out a miserable problem.

i know, but if anything it shows that NOT everyone is affected as first thought...you have posted how you've now got good speeds from moving, I'm showing you can get good speeds by not doing anything!!...

also, for anyone interested, you might wanna read THIS - dunno if anyone's actually posted before...

p.s. you were the one interested to see if my speeds stayed...

Yes, without the gleeful tone though! Plus I did say we should agree to disagree, I could still be posting twice the speeds you are achieving but what would that achieve?
